May. 19 2023

The World Health Organization (WHO) this year celebrate the 5th World Food Safety Day (WFSD) on June 7th, drawing attention to "Food standards save lives", as food standards help us to ensure what we eat is safe. The campaign is focused on inspiring actions to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agricultural production, market access, tourism and sustainable development.

In accordance to the Organization, more than 600 million people fall ill and 420 000 die every year from eating contaminated food. That is why the theme "Food standards save lives" is so important to be highlighted, once Certification to Food Safety standards enables companies to meet regulatory requirements and consumer expectations.

Bureau Veritas is actively engaged in this journey to shape a world of trust supporting the industry through the entire food value chain on their food safety journey. With over a thousand food safety experts worldwide we can build the bridge to food safety assurance with testing, inspection and certification.
