Head of Agri-Food Certifications

Bureau Veritas

My name is Julieta Viglioni, I was born in the city of Rosario, Argentina. There I pursued my studies in agronomic engineering. Then I moved to the city of Buenos Aires, where I began my working career. My career at Bureau Veritas began in 2017 when the Dutch company, where I previously worked, was acquired by Bureau Veritas Group. Since the beginning at Bureau Veritas, my position has been as Head of Agri-Food Certifications.

IN A FEW WORDS, COULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CAREER PATH?

My primary role is to implement actions that ensure the accreditation of the ISO 17065 standard, which is a key requirement for sustainability certifications like RTRS (Round Table on Responsible Soy) and GLOBALG.A.P. I also oversee other schemes, both accredited ones outside Argentina (e.g. SMETA) and non-accredited ones such as Sello Alimentos Argentinos and Bodegas de Argentina.

HOW COULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR POSITION AND WORK AT CERTIFICATION FOOD TEAM ON BV?

My role demands meticulous attention to monitoring processes because accredited schemes leave no room for error. A mistake could lead to the loss of accreditation, which would be a significant setback for both the company and our clients.

Fortunately, I am supported by a highly efficient, dedicated, and professional team, which ensures that everything runs smoothly.

COULD YOU EXPLAIN HOW IS CERTIFICATION FOOD SERVICES IS ALIGNMENT WITH LEAP 28?

Argentina is the world’s third-largest producer and exporter of soybeans and their derivatives. A third of the foreign exchange entering our country comes from soybeans.

Starting in 2025, the sustainability requirements for selling these products in the global market will become much stricter. Bureau Veritas Argentina is already equipped with the tools to help companies meet these market demands.

Because of this, I believe the conditions are in place for our sector to align with the goals of LEAP 2028. Now, we need to work diligently to achieve these objectives.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT WORKING IN THE CERTIFICATION FOOD SECTOR?

I’ve always loved travelling to the countryside, which is one of the reasons I chose this career. Certifying agricultural producers allows me to visit rural areas and step away from the big city for a few days—something I truly enjoy.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE CONSIDERING A CAREER AT BV?

Bureau Veritas offers excellent opportunities for growth, but success requires personal effort and building a strong team. A good work team is essential for achieving personal and professional success.

I started my career working at a blueberry exporting company, where I was introduced to agri-food standards like GLOBALG.A.P and BRC. By the time I joined Bureau Veritas, I had developed a clear professional profile focused on quality standards. These standards are challenging and require continuous learning because the world is always changing, and at Bureau Veritas, we adapt to these changes.
