GIVE US A QUICK INTRODUCTION ABOUT YOURSELF:
My name is Zongping WU, and I’m based in Shanghai, China. I am currently the Operation Director for CER China and Director of CER West Region. My role involves auditor management, schedule coordination, accompanying accreditation body audits, and overseeing all operations in Western China. Additionally, I am a registered lead auditor for various schemes, including IRIS (ISO 22163), ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 14064, and others.
COULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CAREER PATH IN A FEW WORDS?
I joined BV China in 2010 as a Senior Lead Auditor, specializing in standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and QC 080000. Later, I completed IRIS training and became an IRIS Lead Auditor. From 2013 to 2023, I was Operation Manager of Central Region, China. In a decade, my auditor team has grown from 32 to over 100 members and, actually, there are approximally 230 auditors in China, including full time and subcontractor. As a result, I’ve taken on greater leadership responsibilities as Operation Director for CER China and Director for CER West Region.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ROLE IN THE CERTIFICATION TRANSPORTATION & NEW MOBILITY TEAM AT BV?
I oversee general affairs in Western China, which includes managing sales, back-office operations, and auditors, while driving business targets for the region. I also handle operations across China. Given the rapid growth of the transportation industry, I focus heavily on transportation schemes and new product development. I coordinate with local IAOB/AIAG in China and address IRIS-related issues in collaboration with BVC HQ/GPC. In aviation, I am working to expand the team and improve its capabilities. Beyond traditional certifications like IATF, IRIS, and AS, I am also driving the adoption of new certifications in transportation and new mobility sectors, such as ISO 27001, TISAX, and carbon-related certifications.
HOW DO CERTIFICATION TRANSPORTATION & NEW MOBILITY SERVICES ALIGN WITH LEAP 28?
China’s industrial sectors, especially transportation, have seen significant development in recent years. For example, China’s high-speed rail, subway, and light rail systems now lead the world in total kilometers, the automotive industry produces over 50 million vehicles annually, and the aviation industry has launched its first large commercial aircraft, the C919. In response, our region is actively developing transportation and new mobility services aligned with LEAP 28 principles. This includes expanding traditional services like IATF, AS, and IRIS certifications, while exploring new areas like carbon neutrality, information security (ISO 27001, TISAX), electric vehicles, and certification for railway infrastructure and aviation’s low-altitude economy. By focusing on these emerging industries, we offer clients comprehensive certification solutions and develop highly skilled auditors, driving substantial growth in the region.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING IN THE CERTIFICATION TRANSPORTATION & NEW MOBILITY SECTOR?
My first job was as an SQE at a leading Chinese automotive OEM, and my university studies also focused on product quality. In vehicle certification, especially for public transportation, quality and safety are critical due to complex environmental factors. I take great pride in providing trust to society as an auditor and applying my professional knowledge to my work. I also appreciate maintaining a rigorous work ethic and positive atmosphere, which has kept me motivated at BVC for over 14 years.
